It is a new season and a big season of change for me. While I am not where I want to be yet, the tide is still changing and building in the right direction and my sails are wide open and ready!
Remember how I said last week was a quiet week? My weekend was just the opposite.
A parent contacted me to inquire about her skater taking private lessons from me! You guys I get so excited every time I get a new student! Eek
I met some new friends this weekend as well. I can hardly believe it. My neighbor, literally a wall away is a really nice Catholic girl. Woah peeps I was SO meant to have this apartment! We were on the elevator (gasp) both on our way to the farmers market and talked the whole way there, and plan to get together sometime soon.
A while back I mentioned I met for coffee with a new friend and that I was going to tell you how we met. This past weekend I also met some new friends through the same source. A while back my best friend tagged me on Facebook, in a comment on the Blessed Is She page. They were planning a get together in the midwest region for the fall and wanted to know how many people would be interested, so they invited us to say where we were from. From there the groups of women were added into a separate group with their rightful State. All of the ladies and I did a little introduction and shared a bit about ourselves. Here's what I wrote:
Hello, ladies! I'm Rachel, single and recently moved to St. Paul, to pursue my passion for coaching figure skating. Until that takes off I am working as an Echocardiographer. I am excited to get out and explore the beautiful running/biking trails, and sip some wine on all of the patios!:) Who wants to join me? If you know any cute single catholic guys you should give them my number! Here's the best part I'm dead serious! Do it.
After commenting on other ladies introductions and others commenting on my introduction, a few messages were passed back and forth and we made it happen. Simple, none of us knew much about the other, only that we wanted community, and to be able to share our Faith in common. And that is how I have made new friends here in the city. Social media. Minus my neighbor, we met the good old fashioned way, by chance and more so I think by God's hand.
Be open to the possibilities!
What are some unique ways that you have met some of your friends?
Ciao,
Rachel
